Swing Migration for SBS 2008
SBSmigration.com will begin offering support for SBS 2008 projects this fall, with some pre-release testing options for our subscribers.
Microsoft announced at the Worldwide Partner Conference 2008 that the expected available date for SBS 2008 will be November 12, 2008. This means that we can expect finalized versions of the “RTM” (Release to Manufacturing) version of this produce will likely become available to the partner channel to begin testing this fall.
To support our IT Pro customers preparing for end-user upgrades, starting in September 2008 SBSmigration.com will be making available a pre-release Kit scenario for testing Swing Migration for SBS 2003 to SBS 2008. This “pre-release” version of the new SBS 2003 to 2008 Kit will become available as follows:
- All annual subscribers with SBSmigration.com who have an active account and wish to participate will have a pre-release option do to so.
- SBSmigration.com customers with an active account but not on an annual subscription will have to option to upgrade their account in order to participate.
- For anyone with an expired account (prior customers) or no prior customer history, we will make an announcement in September regarding how you may establish a new or renewal account specifically for the 2008 platform scenarios.
The release of a standalone Technician Kit version for SBS 2003 to 2008 is projected to align to the “availability date” of the SBS 2008 product. With consideration on that timing to ensure that the scenario guidelines are both stable and reliable, the release date will be announced later. Our policy will be to encourage 1-time use customer to delay adoption of SBS 2008 a few months until the “bleeding edge” deployments of all Microsoft SBS 2008 product itself have subsided.
